Usually, a traditional funeral means a service at a church, a crematorium or the graveside, followed by a burial or cremation. Family and friends can gather, think back and say their goodbyes in a respectful, meaningful way. We tailor each traditional funeral to the family, and our help normally covers:
Your loved one is looked after gently, with dignity and respect.
We set out the choices plainly and help you decide.
We arrange the venue, date and time, and take care of the details so you needn’t.
Advice on flowers, coffins, readings and music, chosen with the person in mind.
We deal with the officiant, the crematorium and the cemetery for you.
Quiet, reassuring support on the funeral day and afterwards.
Our promise to you
When it comes to costs, you deserve openness and plain speaking. We will go through the options, explain the prices clearly and help you make decisions that suit your family, with no pressure and no needless extras.
See our pricingWhen you are grieving, organising a funeral can feel like too much. We are here to listen, answer your questions and reassure you whenever you need us, before the funeral, on the day and afterwards. The faces supporting you will be familiar ones, and they always make time for you.

Contact usFamiliar, yet personal
A traditional funeral gives people a familiar way to gather, reflect and say goodbye. Many families find its structure comforting: a service, moments shared together, and the people who cared about the one who has died. Here at Hope Funeral Care, we feel that even when the format is traditional, the experience should always be personal.
We make time to learn about the life you are remembering and the wishes of those who loved them. Every part of the day, from the finest detail to its overall feel, is shaped around what is right for you and those closest to you.
As soon as you get in touch, a small, committed team will be supporting you and giving you their time. We look after the practical arrangements, work with officiants and venues, and make sure the day goes smoothly.
On the funeral day, we will be quietly in the background, guiding things along so you are free to be with family and friends. Our care carries on after the service, too, and we are here whenever you need advice, support or a little reassurance.
A little guidance
Usually, a traditional burial service covers the care and preparation of the person who has died, a time for viewing or visiting, a religious or non-religious funeral ceremony, the journey to the cemetery and a committal at the graveside. We work hand in hand with each family to make every part personal, including the flowers, music, readings and tributes.
There are several environmentally conscious options we can provide. These include coffins and caskets that biodegrade, made from willow, bamboo, recycled cardboard and similar materials, natural burial in a woodland or green burial ground, and preparation with minimal embalming or none at all. We would be glad to help you shape a ceremony that pays tribute to your loved one and keeps the impact on the environment as low as possible.
A cremation is carried out at a licensed crematorium, normally after a funeral service or as part of a direct cremation. It usually takes a few hours, and the ashes are then given back to the family. From there, you might decide to scatter them somewhere that holds special meaning, place them in a decorative urn to keep, have them interred in a memorial garden or columbarium, or have them made into memorial jewellery or a keepsake.
Our help is there whether you are planning ahead or arranging a funeral at the time of need. Planning in advance lets you make choices at a pace that suits you, write down your wishes and take some of the weight off your family. If instead a funeral has to be organised at short notice, we will take you through each stage and make sure it is all done with care and dignity, usually within a few days.
Words from families
I cannot recommend Hope Funeral care enough. From our first conversation both Claire and Wendy were clearly the right choice. Their empathy and genuine care for our feelings was clear. Hope have an holistic approach to caring for your loved ones, the small touches that make you sure that what is one of the hardest things anyone can go through is treated with respect, compassion and dignity. I know my husband was taken care of and given a personal loving service which made saying goodbye bearable. I would not hesitate recommending Hope Funeral Care to anyone Thank you Claire, Wendy and the team .

Hope Funeral Care does not feel like a business more a vocation … a compassionate mission. My world turned upside down when my husband died unexpectedly while we were on holiday in Sri Lanka. I was alone on the other side of the world trying to make repatriation and funeral arrangements. I was in shock , grieving and overwhelmed. In stepped Hope Funeral Care. I spoke to Claire on the phone and it felt like she was giving me a massive hug. She was kind, empathetic, but strong and practical, and she took a huge burden off my shoulders. She metaphorically took me by the hand and guided me. I honestly could not have survived those first weeks without her. She was thoughtful about every small detail and just a few weeks later we had an amazing celebration of my husbands life. Hope Funeral Care has a different approach - their funeral parlour is a welcoming home, full of thoughtful touches, not a dark oppressive office. And their care doesn’t end with the funeral. They organise regular meet ups for people who are grieving and may benefit from talking to other people in the same situation. I could not recommend this company enough.

The loss of my husband was too much to take and the care, support and guidance I received was unbelievable. The ladies at Hope funeral care went above all what I expected when I was on the phone in the night I was reassured. Only few times in your life will you need a funeral company. Wendy singing was a highlight and made the crematorium bright a tribute to Sam and his love of music. On the day my family were cared for and even to this day they check in with me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Jen xx

Knowing I had to start enquiring about funeral arrangements sent me into total overwhelm. However, from the very first call to Wendy at Hope Funeral Care, I felt a massive weight lift off my shoulders. I didn’t want a stuffy, traditional scary experience for both me and my young children, I wanted to know my husband would be cared to entirely on site, and that I didn’t want anything that resembled a coffin! Speaking to Wendy, explaining my worries…it just felt right. I knew nothing was too much for them—they showed genuine compassion, honesty, and sincerity, guiding me in decisions that reflected what mattered most. Their thoughtful personal touches and follow-up brought immense comfort. I felt truly held during the darkest, most frightening time of my life, and their ongoing support has meant so much. Wendy and Clare especially went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect. Everyone who attended the celebration of life said it was the most uplifting service they had ever experienced, exactly what we hoped for my three young children. The premises are beautiful, calm, warm and inviting, each time I entered the building it felt like a big warm hug and left feeling lighter. Wendy and Clare aimed to give hope—and that is exactly what they achieved. Words cannot express what their genuine support means to me. Both you and your loved one, could not be better supported or cared for anywhere else than Hope Funeral Care.

Claire, Wendy, Katie and Cate are the only people I would turn to in the unfortuanate event of another death in my family. A family member of mine died in very unexpected circumstances and I did not have a clue what I was supposed to do. After receiving a recommendation of their service, I gave them a call. From the moment I spoke to Wendy, I knew that I was speaking with the right people and I was instantly at ease when discussing my situation. From that first call I was guided in a very personable manor through every step. I chose a service at their premises and it has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. The building is beautiful and Claire and her team made everything perfect. I am, and will always be grateful to them for the service I received from Hope Funeral Care and I thank them all for everything they did. Marc Paul.
