Here For You When It Matters
Cremations
Losing someone you love is painful enough on its own. Our role is to make the arrangements feel manageable, keeping them simple or making them personal, whichever you prefer.

Cremations
Across the UK, most families now choose cremation, and our cremation services in Southport reflect why. Cremation is adaptable, suits almost any kind of service, and can be kept simple or made deeply personal. One family may want music, readings and tributes from start to finish, while another would rather keep things quiet and low-key. Neither choice is more right than the other, and we are happy to help with either.
For years, Hope Funeral Care has stood beside Southport families on some of the most difficult days they will face. When you visit us, we take the time to sit down together, explain what can be done, and help you settle on an approach that suits your family, honours the person who has died and respects your wishes. We do not follow a set script, and you will never feel pushed.

Which options are there?
Traditional Cremation
This is the kind of funeral most people imagine: friends and relatives coming together at the crematorium to say a fitting goodbye, with music, readings, a eulogy and individual touches along the way. In shape it is much like a traditional burial, except that cremation takes the place of interment.
Simple Cremation
A large gathering or the expense of a full funeral is not right for everyone. A simple cremation pares the arrangements down, yet the care and dignity that every farewell deserves remain fully in place. Many families find that a smaller, quieter goodbye is just what they want.
Direct Cremation
With a direct cremation, there is no funeral service first. The cremation itself takes place privately, and families are then free to hold a memorial whenever they are ready, perhaps in a place their loved one held dear. This allows time to grieve before celebrating a life, and removes the pressure of arranging everything all at once.

What do we include?
Whichever kind of cremation feels right, we look after all the work that goes on out of sight. This covers:
- Our funeral directors on hand with advice from beginning to end
- Bringing your loved one into our care and looking after them
- Every form and document that needs completing
- Arranging and coordinating the service itself
- Transport to the crematorium
- Guidance on ashes, urns, headstones and memorials
You will hear from us at each step, so nothing catches you off guard. A death brings a great deal to organise, and we see it as our job to keep that weight off your shoulders. Our support also continues afterwards through our funeral aftercare service, which covers estate administration.

Personal touches
Some of the most moving funerals we have helped with were cremations, simply because the family thought carefully about what the person would have wanted. Our team can help you bring in the small details that make a service truly theirs, from a favourite song or a reading with special meaning to the flowers they liked to keep around the home. You might include:
- Music they loved
- Hymns, prayers, readings or poetry
- Tributes and eulogies from friends and relatives
- A display of photographs or memories
- Flowers or a colour theme
- A service led by someone from the family
- Keepsakes
Together, we will make sure every detail is right.

Here for you whenever you need us
Some families contact us in the first days after a death, unsure what to do first. Others are thinking ahead and would like their arrangements settled while they are able to make them. Whatever brings you to us, we will start from where you are and move at a pace that suits you.
Most of the questions people ask us are practical. What really happens on the day? Can there still be a service if we choose direct cremation? What can be done with the ashes? How much is it all likely to cost? We will answer every one of them openly, in plain language, and without rushing you into any decision before you feel ready.
Ring us on 01704 616448, email [email protected], or call in to see us on Church Street, and we will look after the rest.

Direct Cremation
Direct cremation is a dignified, simple option for those who would rather not have a traditional funeral: a respectful goodbye with none of the formality of a service. When you choose direct cremation with Hope Funeral Care, we see to everything on your behalf, from bringing your loved one into our care and dealing with the required paperwork to returning their ashes to you.
Because there is no ceremony to plan, no venue to book and no timetable to keep, your family can say goodbye however and whenever feels right, perhaps by scattering the ashes privately, holding a celebration of life, or reflecting quietly together at home.

I cannot recommend Hope Funeral care enough. From our first conversation both Claire and Wendy were clearly the right choice. Their empathy and genuine care for our feelings was clear. Hope have an holistic approach to caring for your loved ones, the small touches that make you sure that what is one of the hardest things anyone can go through is treated with respect, compassion and dignity. I know my husband was taken care of and given a personal loving service which made saying goodbye bearable. I would not hesitate recommending Hope Funeral Care to anyone Thank you Claire, Wendy and the team .

Hope Funeral Care does not feel like a business more a vocation … a compassionate mission. My world turned upside down when my husband died unexpectedly while we were on holiday in Sri Lanka. I was alone on the other side of the world trying to make repatriation and funeral arrangements. I was in shock , grieving and overwhelmed. In stepped Hope Funeral Care. I spoke to Claire on the phone and it felt like she was giving me a massive hug. She was kind, empathetic, but strong and practical, and she took a huge burden off my shoulders. She metaphorically took me by the hand and guided me. I honestly could not have survived those first weeks without her. She was thoughtful about every small detail and just a few weeks later we had an amazing celebration of my husbands life. Hope Funeral Care has a different approach - their funeral parlour is a welcoming home, full of thoughtful touches, not a dark oppressive office. And their care doesn’t end with the funeral. They organise regular meet ups for people who are grieving and may benefit from talking to other people in the same situation. I could not recommend this company enough.

The loss of my husband was too much to take and the care, support and guidance I received was unbelievable. The ladies at Hope funeral care went above all what I expected when I was on the phone in the night I was reassured. Only few times in your life will you need a funeral company. Wendy singing was a highlight and made the crematorium bright a tribute to Sam and his love of music. On the day my family were cared for and even to this day they check in with me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Jen xx

Knowing I had to start enquiring about funeral arrangements sent me into total overwhelm. However, from the very first call to Wendy at Hope Funeral Care, I felt a massive weight lift off my shoulders. I didn’t want a stuffy, traditional scary experience for both me and my young children, I wanted to know my husband would be cared to entirely on site, and that I didn’t want anything that resembled a coffin! Speaking to Wendy, explaining my worries…it just felt right. I knew nothing was too much for them—they showed genuine compassion, honesty, and sincerity, guiding me in decisions that reflected what mattered most. Their thoughtful personal touches and follow-up brought immense comfort. I felt truly held during the darkest, most frightening time of my life, and their ongoing support has meant so much. Wendy and Clare especially went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect. Everyone who attended the celebration of life said it was the most uplifting service they had ever experienced, exactly what we hoped for my three young children. The premises are beautiful, calm, warm and inviting, each time I entered the building it felt like a big warm hug and left feeling lighter. Wendy and Clare aimed to give hope—and that is exactly what they achieved. Words cannot express what their genuine support means to me. Both you and your loved one, could not be better supported or cared for anywhere else than Hope Funeral Care.

Claire, Wendy, Katie and Cate are the only people I would turn to in the unfortuanate event of another death in my family. A family member of mine died in very unexpected circumstances and I did not have a clue what I was supposed to do. After receiving a recommendation of their service, I gave them a call. From the moment I spoke to Wendy, I knew that I was speaking with the right people and I was instantly at ease when discussing my situation. From that first call I was guided in a very personable manor through every step. I chose a service at their premises and it has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. The building is beautiful and Claire and her team made everything perfect. I am, and will always be grateful to them for the service I received from Hope Funeral Care and I thank them all for everything they did. Marc Paul.
